A faulty oxygen sensor may contribute to the diagnostic trouble codes below. These codes can also be caused by wiring faults, exhaust leaks, fuel-system issues, or catalytic-converter problems. Proper diagnosis is recommended before replacing any sensor.
Upstream sensor-related codes: P1166, P1167, P0134, and P0135 may be associated with an upstream air-fuel ratio sensor, heater circuit, wiring, or related engine-management fault.
Downstream sensor-related codes: P0137, P0138, and P0141 may be associated with a downstream oxygen sensor, heater circuit, or wiring fault. P0420 can also indicate a catalytic-converter or exhaust-system problem and does not confirm that the oxygen sensor is faulty.
