Important Fitment Information
Dual-position compatibility does not mean that 234-4668 fits every upstream and downstream position on every vehicle. Some applications use this part number in both positions, while others use it only upstream or only downstream. Confirm the OE number, engine bank, sensor position, connector, and Federal or California emissions configuration before ordering.

Related Diagnostic Trouble Codes
A faulty oxygen sensor may contribute to the diagnostic trouble codes below. These codes can also be caused by wiring faults, exhaust leaks, fuel-system issues, or other engine-management problems. Proper diagnosis is recommended before replacing any sensor.
- P0135 / P0155 (High-Frequency Code): O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 or Bank 2, Sensor 1) — Indicates that the internal ceramic heating element has cracked or burned out, preventing the sensor from reaching its closed-loop operating temperature rapidly during cold starts.
- P0133 / P0153: O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 1 or Bank 2) — Caused by severe carbon buildup or silicone poisoning from engine blow-by or oil consumption. This results in delayed voltage switching, leading to a sudden surge in fuel consumption and rough engine idling.
- P0131 / P0151: O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1 or Bank 2) — Triggered when the sensory chip shorts internally or fails completely, locking the sensor output near 0V. The vehicle computer misinterprets this as an extreme "lean" engine condition and dumps excess fuel into the cylinders.
-
P0171 / P0174: System Too Lean (Bank 1 or Bank 2) — While these are primary fueling codes, a failing or skewed Denso 234-4668 front sensor will often cross-trigger these lean faults by feeding inaccurate oxygen content readings back to the vehicle’s main engine management system.
-
⚠️ CRITICAL FITMENT NOTE FOR GM OWNERS:
- For GM Passenger Cars & V6 Crossovers (Buick, Pontiac, Chevy Sedans): Denso 234-4668 is a dual-position sensor. It can be used as BOTH the Upstream and Downstream sensor.
- For GM V8 Trucks & Full-Size SUVs (Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon 2008–2014): Denso 234-4668 fits the UPSTREAM position ONLY. For the matching Downstream position may require 234-4256 or another application-specific part number. Please verify your vehicle's engine and position before ordering!
